On the west coast of Florida, near the Gulf of Mexico, is Tampa, Florida, also known as the Cigar City and The Big Guava. Part of the large Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area, the city has a population of nearly 347,000 people. The diversity in people and culture leads to homes that are just as diverse. From older homes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms to small yet luxurious condos, options are abundant in the city.
Tampa is home to six different historic districts, two central business districts and dozens of residential neighborhoods. Beautiful Hyde Park is home to historic homes and bungalows and is one of the more desirable residential neighborhoods in the city due to its close proximity to downtown's financial district and museums, not to mention Bayshore Boulevard, which boasts the longest continuous sidewalk in the world with a length of 4.5 miles dedicated to walking, biking and other activities. Many of the city's new homes are built in the areas of Whitfield Park, Whitfield Preserve and Esplanade. The latter is popular for its gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired architecture. The Whitfield areas are popular because they are close to the arts, culture and entertainment of Tampa while remaining a bit more secluded with a small downtown area of their own.
Healthcare is one of the city's most popular industries with BayCare Health System, HCA West Florida and Tampa General Hospital employing thousands of health workers as the top three health care providers in Tampa. Retail, telecommunications and finance are other popular industries that have a range of businesses in operation. Publix Super Market, Verizon and JPMorgan Chase & Co. employ many people in Tampa. The city is also home to the headquarters of several Fortune 1000 companies including OSI Restaurant Partners, TECO Energy and Raymond James Financial. Tourism, national defense and air and sea shipping are vital to the area's economy.
