Located on the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains, north of the Los Angeles Basin, Palmdale provides a laidback valley setting for those looking to reside outside the sprawl of the LA area. Those looking for a more affordable SoCal locale will find that Palmdale residents enjoy a much more affordable real estate market than the areas south of the mountains. A median home sale price of nearly $500,000 is almost half that of the Los Angeles area, and many people commute from Palmdale into LA or to Edwards Air Force Base, just north.

Palmdale Attractions

Palmdale is a relatively sleepy locale with a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere. One of Palmdale’s best-known attractions is the Joe Davis Heritage Airpark, which houses historic airplanes for public viewing. DryTown Water Park plays off the desert setting of Palmdale and is named after a once-thriving mining company. Today, it provides endless fun for the whole family to beat the heat. The Palmdale Amphitheater brings in big-name shows from all over the country. Near the center of town, locals head to Palmdale International Shopping Mall and Antelope Valley Mall for some retail opportunities. Off 10th Street sits a number of restaurants both local and nationally recognizable, along with several local breweries to enjoy.

The Palmdale Regional Airport makes local air travel seamless and is the home of many advanced aerospace companies like Northrop Grumman.
