Just across Biscayne Bay, east of downtown, is South Beach, known for its beaches and nightlife.

Miami is a thriving commercial city and has a strong national and international business community. The largest employers in Miami are Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami-Dade County, and the United States government. The PortMiami is among the nation’s busiest ports and also employs a lot of people. Other important industries in Miami include business, finance, and tourism.
