If you are looking to move to one of the sunny cities of southern half of the golden state, Claremont, California, might be worth your time. The college town of Claremont covers over 13 square miles of land at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains with a population of around 36,000. The large homes and condos here bear that California combination of Spanish and American style. As long as you can account for the median home price of over $500,000, you’ll find a lot to like here.

Claremont’s current economic state is strong. Unemployment is nearly half the national average, while the income per capita is considerably higher than the national figure. Large portions of the population work in the sales and management fields, but a considerable number also work in education because of the large school presence, making this a great place to raise kids. While Claremont Unified School District only manages ten public grade schools, the opportunities for higher education are terrific. The seven campuses, referred to as the Claremont Colleges, are all highly ranked, including Scripps College and Harvey Mudd College.

Claremont boasts an eclectic mix of activities to enjoy when you’re not at work, too. You can enjoy the calm of nature at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden and the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park or pick up a new hobby at the Folk Music Center. Those with a penchant for live entertainment can check out the Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater or the Flappers Comedy Club. Museum lovers should visit the Pomona College Museum of Art and the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology. All of this is to say nothing of the nearly infinite diversions afforded by being just over 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Suffice it to say that if you move to Claremont, California, you will find it difficult to be bored.
