Boasting the world headquarters of the Kellogg Corporation, the city of Battle Creek, Michigan, is an industrial metropolitan area with a population of about 52,000 people. Affectionately called the Cereal City, this area has a number of affordable single-family homes, apartments and condos that span the entire city. Like most of Michigan, the overall temperatures are on the cold side; the yearly average high temperature in Battle Creek is only 58 degrees Fahrenheit. This can be the perfect opportunity to indulge in cold weather sports and activities. Hockey is a major attraction in Michigan, and Battle Creek has its own hockey team that plays seasonally. There is about an equal mix of blue and white collar workers within the city, most employed by the breakfast industry at companies like Kellogg or Post.
